Concomitant Medication Usage with <scp>Levodopa‐Carbidopa</scp> Intestinal Gel: Results from the <scp>COSMOS</scp> Study

Background Levodopa-carbidopa intestinal gel (LCIG) is administered directly to the small intestine of patients with advanced Parkinson's disease (APD) help maintain stable plasma levodopa levels. Objective The objective this study was investigate effect LCIG in reducing polypharmacy for treatment APD. Methods COmedication Study assessing Mono- and cOmbination therapy levodopa-carbidopa inteStinal (COSMOS) a large, real-world, multinational observational investigating comedication use LCIG. All enrolled had used ≥12 months data were collected cross-sectionally (study visit) retrospectively. primary endpoint percentage using as monotherapy (without add-on PD medications) at initiation 3, 6, 9, 12 thereafter. Results Overall, 409 from 14 countries treated mean 35.8 ± 23.2 months. A total 15.2% initiated 31.7% receiving after initiation. duration 39.3 25.6 Use medications decreased over time all regimens. From patient visit, off by 3.8, 4.6, 3.9 hours/day monotherapy, daytime polytherapy groups, respectively, while dyskinesia 1.7, 2.0, 1.9 hours/day, respectively.
